对于端午节的起源说法不一，最广为接受的是为了纪念战国时期楚国爱国诗人屈原。 There are different statements about the origins of Dragon Boat Festival, and most people agree with the opinion that it is in commemoration of ancient poet Qu Yuan.

During the Dragon Boat Festival, the most exciting event must be the dragon-boat racing. There are racers in dragon-shaped canoes pulling the oars harmoniously and hurriedly, accompanied by rapid drums, heading for their destination.
除此之外，人们还会挂上艾草与菖蒲，艾草的特殊香气可以驱赶蚊虫，更是寄托了人们辟邪纳福的美好愿望。
In addition, people always hang the wormwood and calamus in order to keep away mosquitoes and other insects by the special fragrance they give off. And it also conveys people’s wishes for arrival of good luck and protection against misfortune.
佳肴 | Cuisine
粽子是端午节的一个必备食品。最开始时，它只是用箬叶和彩线包起来的糯米。但是现在填充物就很丰富了，有枣子和豆沙的，鲜肉的，还有火腿蛋黄的。除了粽子之外，人们还会喝雄黄酒。
Zongzi is an essential food of the Dragon Boat Festival. In early times, it was only glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in reed or other plant leaves and tied with colored thread, but now the fillings are more various, including jujube and bean paste, fresh meat, and ham and egg yolk. People will also drink realgar wine.
饰物| Decorations
在端午节以五色丝结而成索，或悬于门首，或戴小儿项颈，或系小儿手臂，或挂于床帐、摇篮等处，俗谓可避灾除病、保佑安康、益寿延年。
People knit strings in five colors and hang them on the door-frame, or tie them on kid’s neck and arm, or hang them on the bed curtain and cradle. It is believed that the strings will avoid diseases and prolong people’s life.
